
mPlus Maternal Health Platform

Project Overview
mPlus was developed as a comprehensive mobile and web-based solution to address the critical gaps in maternal healthcare access within Nairobi's informal settlements. The platform creates a digital bridge between expectant mothers and healthcare providers, ensuring continuity of care throughout the maternal health journey.
Project Scope
The project encompassed: 1) Development of mobile apps for mothers and community health practitioner, 2) Web-based administration portal, 3) Personal health record access, 4) Appointment reminder system, 5) Emergency response features, and 6) Facility reporting tools. The system was implemented across three healthcare facilities serving the Ruaraka sub-county's most vulnerable populations.
Key Outcomes
- Connected 590+ expectant mothers with quality antenatal care services
- Enabled 36 Community Health Volunteers to provide coordinated, efficient support
- Increased clinic attendance through automated reminders
- Improved maternal and child health awareness through educational content
- Strengthened emergency response capacity for high-risk pregnancies
