Jitenge

Project Overview
Jitenge is a robust mobile and web-based application built to support Kenya’s COVID-19 response. The platform allowed travelers, confirmed cases, and contacts to self-report their health status daily, while enabling public health officials to monitor compliance and intervene where necessary. Designed with user-centric features and strong data security, Jitenge played a vital role in controlling the spread of the virus.
Project Scope
Our implementation included: 1) Daily self-reporting interface for individuals under observation, 2) Geo-fencing to monitor quarantine compliance, 3) Real-time dashboards for county and national health teams, 4) Automated SMS reminders for health check-ins, and 5) Secure storage of sensitive health data. The system was scalable and integrated into the national COVID-19 surveillance strategy.

- Monitored over 500,000 individuals during the pandemic
- Enabled early intervention and support for symptomatic individuals
- Strengthened public health data for national decision-making
- Improved compliance with quarantine guidelines through automation
